Bruschetteria

Last night my friend and I decided to dine out in celebration of the end of her school year. Working in the Lower East Side, I am surrounded by some of the most exquisit restaurants in New York City, and a lot of them are featured in Menupages.com with raving reviews. So I am always overwhelmed by my so called food adventures based on all the reviews.

We decided to go to a relatively new restaurant called Bruschetteria.

I have ordered delivery from this place a few times, and their smoke salmon salad is very delicious. It was packaged nicely, huge portions, and crispy fresh. So I was really excited to try some of their dishes that would not have tasted good if delivered.

Last night I tried their "Bowl of Meatballs with Tomato Ragu" And it was the most delicious meatballs I've ever had!! It came with 6 or so halved meatballs with home made tomato sauce/stew, and their famous slice bread on the side for dipping. My friend had the "Fresh tomato, mozzarella, basil and extra virgin oilive oil bruschetta" It came with four pieces of bruschetta, and when they mean fresh tomatoes it is really FRESH!!! The amount of topping is also perfect, so it never fell off when I was munching into it. Their chocolate souffle was topped with a little whip cream and chocolate syrup. Simple yet delicious.
The bill only came up to $24 for the both of us, which is very reasonable for such a great meal. The portions run on a smaller side, however, so make sure to try some extra dishes if you are absolutely starving!

Mother's Day Treats

So Mother's Day is right around the corner and Sephora is definitely a winner at promoting their limited edition-Sephora only sets. There are many great starter kits to splurge on, which is what ends up happening most of the time. Another good excuse to buy something special for your mother AND yourself.

Here are two sets I have been setting my eyes on recently. The one on the left, is the Stila set which comes with mascara, lipstick, eyeshadow trio, convertible color and smudge pots for eyes. I like the natural colors and I personally love love their smudge pots. The colors are shimmery, long lasting, and never smudges under eyes. The brown eyeshadows, nude lipstick, black mascara are versatile enough for everyday use.
The one on the right, which I already splurged on, is from Smashbox. For a mere $60 you receive $180 worth of merchandise, which made it extra tempting for me. I love the softlights blush, eyeshadoq quad, nude lipgloss and the lip exfoliant. However I just don't use the brow tech trio, creamy eyeliner duo and photofinish primer enough, but I'm sure they are great also!
This set from Lorac is also aiming for the versatile route with its eyeshadow trio, blush/bronzer duo, nude lipgloss, black mascara and foundation primer. The blush/bronzer duo is a great essential makeup bag item. And the size of it looks very portable.

After talley the total number of lipglosses, mascaras, eyeshadows I have sitting at home, I've decided to pass on this Mother's Day, for myself of course. As for my dear mom, I will be sure to get her something more meaningful.

I started this blog because I am so inspired by all the fellow bloggers out there. It takes a lot of commitment and dedication to maintain a blog. However, I think the most inspiring of all, is to hear feedback from readers in the comment column. So I hope this will be a good place to share each other's thoughts.

After hearing about all the hype about the GAP designer I finally decided to head to the stores and check them out since they ran out nearly ALL the sizes online. I wasn't expecting much luck in the store either. So I casually went throught the racks right in front and there were some S and XS hiding among the racks so I quickly snatched them and headed for the fitting room.

However, to my disappointed, these shirts did not fit as well as I'd liked. I tried on a few Thakoon and Doo ri shirts.
I was really looking forward to trying on this petal dress by Thakoon especially the bids for this dress on ebay was as high as $160 which is double the retail price. Anyway...I tried on a S, and every thing about this dress is oversized. Puffy sleeves, wide lose body fitting, and the petal skirt. The tie sits low at waist, so it made my legs look short and my upper body , well, BIG. The silouette is pretty much none existent . This shirt is much more flattering since the focus is on the upper body: the shoulders and the tie bow around the neck. Pair it with skinny black pants and you are good to go. And I love the detailing of the ruffle and folds around the body of the shirt.

I guess this whole skinny issue is impacting the fashion industry so much that it is actually backfiring on consumers. If a size 6 person like myself is too small for a SMALL, then what are the rest of the petite ladies going to wear? I also heard they are marking the sizes smaller than they actually are just to make consumers "feel" better. So the 6 is the new 4, 4 is the new 2....Do we really need a size marked on the clothing in order to be body conscious? All in all, end consumers should always try on things before buying, since the sizing won't help anymore.
